  3. Legalized copy of academic qualifications2 – certified translations into English are required – demonstrating that the applicant has completed a 180 credits (ECTS) degree or equivalent in relevant areas, i.e. earth sciences, chemistry, biology, biotechnology, ecology, chemical engineering, with either an undergraduate point average (UPA) equivalent to C or higher or an exceptional professional experience;

    • a residence certificate issued in accordance with the candidate’s municipality normal registration rules OR
    • a certificate from the candidate’s place of work, study or training issued by the employer or institution in question.
  8. A copy of the passport

[1] Documents issued abroad must be official, original copies issued by the competent authorities, and must be legalized via diplomatic channels. This procedure must be carried out in each of the following bodies and in the order indicated:

  • Ministry of Education of the country of origin, for degree certificates and certificates of studies, and the relevant ministry for certificates of birth and nationality.
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where the documents were issued.
  • Diplomatic or consular representation of Spain in the country where the documents were issued.

[2] All documents issued by the diplomatic authorities or consular services of another country in Spain must be legalised by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For the legalization of documents from the signatory countries of The Hague Convention of 5 October 1961, the requirements set out above are replaced by the apostille affixed to the document by the competent authority of the state where the document was issued.

It is not necessary to legalize documents issued in the countries of the European Union provided there is no doubt as to their authenticity and legitimacy, nor their official nature.

The aforementioned documents must be accompanied by an official translation into Spanish, should they be written in another language. This translation can be rendered:

  • By any diplomatic or consular representation of Spain abroad.
  • By the diplomatic or consular representation in Spain of the country of which the applicant is a subject or, where applicable, of the country where the document was issued.
  • By official, sworn translators duly authorized or registered in Spain.

Generally, it is only necessary to provide an official translation of the subject programme in cases where it cannot be assessed adequately without one. If the original document is written in a non-Latin alphabet, the translation should include the name of the qualification in the original language but transcribed into the Latin alphabet, rather than a translation of that name.

Original documents may be submitted together with a photocopy, and they will be returned to the person concerned following their authentication. If photocopies have been compared and legalized by the diplomatic or consular representation of Spain in the country where the document was issued or before a notary public, it is not necessary to submit the original at the same time.

3. Application eligibility

The application eligibility will be checked by the LEATECH coordination and the secretariat at the University of Lleida (UdL). Eligible applications will be sent by the coordinator to the LEATECH Consortium Commission. Each application will be checked and evaluated by one representative of each partner, that is, one representative of UdL, one representative of EGE, one representative of ITECH, one representative of CIATEC, and one representative of COTANCE. The final student selection will be done in a LEATECH Consortium Commission meeting conducting a joint assessment according to the LEATECH selection criteria.

This selection will consider the joint admission procedures agreed by the consortium commission and include:

b) Selection criteria for Student selection:

All complete applications that have been submitted before the deadline with the requested enclosures will be considered in the student selection and for EMJMD scholarships. Incomplete applications that are not completed in due time will automatically be considered ineligible.

The eligible applications, that is, the applications which have passed the criteria mentioned above, corresponding to minimum eligible criteria, will be evaluated according to the following five selection criteria:

  1. global evaluation of the application;
  2. undergraduate point average (UPA) of the 180 credits (ECTS) degree or equivalent;
  3. motivation;
  4. relevance of research interests; according to the priority of the ERASMUS+ Programme - Environmental fight against Climate Change -, including those in the framework of the contribution from education and culture to sustainable development goals, developing green sectorial skills strategies and methodologies, future-oriented curricula, as well as initiatives that support the planned approaches of the participating organisations regarding environmental sustainability.
  5. student origin.

These will be translated into a set of 6 criteria. 5 criteria will be ranged by percentage as follows:

  1. Academic excellence (50 %)
  2. Professional experience (10%)
  3. Personal motivation (15%)
  4. Online interview (15%)
  5. References/recommendation (10%)
  6. The sixth criterion will take into consideration the origin of the student to balance it and not have more than 10% of students of the same nationality, as it is established in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters call (ERASMUS-EDU-2023-PEX-EMJM-MOB) as mandatory.

Each criterion will be assessed in terms of a classification ranging from 1 (poor) to 100 (outstanding). Firstly, the two evaluators of each application will develop a consensus report and will provide the consensual classification. Secondly, the LEATECH Consortium Commission will check jointly the list of all classifications and the candidates will be ranked according to their final grade. Equity issues will be addressed at this stage according to the procedures outlined by the Consortium Commission. Online interviews will be organised between the selected students and the LEATECH Consortium Commission. In the case of equal merits of two or more applicants, the criteria of gender balance will be applied.
